Western politicians' attacks on China's national security legislation for HK expose malicious intent

While the Chinese people are welcoming a decision adopted by China's national legislature Thursday on the national security legislation for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), some Western politicians are peddling rumors and posing threats.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo once again threatened a revocation of Hong Kong's special status.

Meanwhile, Chris Patten, known for being the "last British governor of Hong Kong," hypocritically hyped up old cliches for the "freedom of Hong Kong" and urged Britain to "lead the way and stand up for Hong Kong."

Is he still fantasizing about reliving the "glory" during the Opium War after which Hong Kong was occupied by Britain?

Since the disturbance following the now-withdrawn ordinance amendments in 2019 in Hong Kong, some American and British politicians have jumped on the stage from behind to umbrella the forces and extremists inciting violence, vandalism and chaos in Hong Kong.

Showing no concern about the escalating violent and terrorist activities in Hong Kong since last year, Pompeo and the like became stressed when China's central authorities are making efforts to restore order and stability in Hong Kong by plugging the loopholes in the legal system on safeguarding national security.

How ridiculous their logic is!

The real reason for the fuss they made is that the external forces can not unscrupulously sow trouble and chaos in the HKSAR again once the national security legal system and enforcement mechanisms are put in place.

It is obvious that those anti-China figures have never cared about or expected a promising future for Hong Kong. They should stop insulting people's wisdom with their clumsy performances.
