China adopts law on cryptography

China's top legislature on Saturday voted to adopt a national law on cryptography.
Lawmakers approved the law at the closing meeting of a bimonthly session of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, which started Monday.
The law will take effect on Jan. 1, 2020.
