Early premiere of China-France joint film held in Paris

The documentary film "Peking Man, The Last Secret of Humankind," jointly produced by China Media Group and its French counterparts, including France Televisions, had an early premiere at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France on Tuesday night.

More than 700 people from the cultural and scientific fields in both countries attended the event.

Noting that the film spans two million years of human evolution and reproduces the magical stories of ancient humans in this land of the East, Shen Haixiong, president of CMG, said at the event via video link that similar to the documentary's depiction, humankind has been whole with a common destiny since ancient times, and every progress of human civilization is inseparable from the transmission, exchange and mutual learning of information and knowledge among people.

Shen said CMG has been committed to spreading outstanding cultural works from China and the world.

Noting that next year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France and that the Paris Olympic Games will also open in 2024, Shen said CMG will work together with its French counterparts in culture, sports and media and hold several cultural and people-to-people exchange activities.

Using the latest scientific research achievements and technological means from both countries to reproduce the prehistoric story of the Asian Homo erectus "Peking Man," the film is the first documentary film reflecting the history of ancient human evolution in East Asia.

The film will be broadcast on CMG's documentary channel and France National Television 2 in 2024.
