The Chinese Embassy in Ottawa held a show of traditional Chinese culture and art on Tuesday, attracting about 100 people from diplomatic corps and representatives of culture and education fields in Canada.

The event includes the performance of Chinese traditional musical instruments and Chinese martial art, as well as the exhibition of Chinese traditional healthy refreshments.

The Spring Festival marks the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on Jan. 25 this year, and the celebrations could last for 15 days till the Lantern Festival.

The performers of traditional Chinese instruments pipa and guzheng, or Chinese zither, explained to the audience traditional cultural knowledge and demonstrated how to play the instruments. All the guests were deeply attracted by the Chinese culture and art.

Sandy, a student from Ottawa University, said "the performance of pipa and guzheng are really spectacular."

Following the show, guests were invited to enjoy winter-featured refreshments and interact with the artists to explore the charm of Chinese traditional culture.
