(ECNS) — China, Myanmar and Thailand have jointly launched a new round of crackdown on cross-border gambling and telecom fraud, repatriating 952 Chinese nationals suspected of telecom fraud back to China and demolishing 494 buildings linked to gambling and scam crimes in Myanmar's KK Park, authorities said.

The latest operation was carried out in Myanmar's Myawaddy region, where law enforcement agencies from the three countries conducted coordinated actions targeting major fraud hubs.

Since October, Myanmar has intensified operations in Myawaddy and other areas, leading to large-scale arrests and the forced removal of scam facilities.

On Dec. 15, police officials from the three countries conducted joint on-site inspections at major scam zones including KK Park and Yatai New City to assess progress and coordinate follow-up actions.

From Dec. 16 to 19, the Chinese Ministry of Public Security organized police forces from Jilin and Henan provinces to escort the detained suspects back to China.

So far this year, more than 7,600 Chinese nationals involved in online gambling and telecom fraud in Myanmar's Myawaddy region have been repatriated to China. Scam compounds in Yatai New City have also been completely dismantled, according to the Ministry of Public Security.

An official from the Ministry of Public Security said telecom and online frauds remain a global challenge, adding that China will continue to deepen international law enforcement cooperation and work with more countries to combat such crimes and protect the safety and property of the public.
