(ECNS) -- China has decided to impose anti-circumvention measures on certain optical fiber imports originating in the U.S., effective from Thursday, according to China's Ministry of Commerce.

On March 4, 2025, at the request of domestic enterprises, the ministry launched an investigation into whether imports of cut-off shifted single-mode optical fiber products originating in the U.S. were circumventing existing anti-dumping measures. This case marked China's first-ever anti-circumvention investigation.

The investigation found that U.S. exporters circumvented China's existing anti-dumping measures on U.S. dispersion of unshifted single-mode optical fiber products by shipping them to China. Therefore, the latest anti-dumping duties will be applied to cut-off shifted single-mode optical fiber products, according to the ministry.
