(ECNS) -- Hainan is seeking international tourism promotion ambassadors among foreign nationals worldwide, aiming to enhance global awareness of its tourism offerings and establish the island as an international hub for tourism and consumption.

The recruitment initiative runs from March 18 to Sept. 30, targeting foreign nationals with cross-cultural talent.

Ideal candidates should demonstrate the following qualities: a genuine passion for travel and a deep appreciation for Hainan's culture, tourism, and local customs, alongside a strong desire to share the beauty of Hainan; established influence on at least one international social media platform; with a proven ability to engage and inspire followers; creative skills to effectively showcase Hainan's tourism and culture through diverse media, including written content, images, and videos; and excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive approach to teamwork and cultural exchange.

Those selected will receive multiple incentives, including opportunities to visit Hainan for free to participate in offline themed creation events; possible rewards for posting high-quality images or videos on personal overseas social media platforms.

They will also be gifted with Hainan-themed mystery boxes, which could contain surprises, such as "VIP seats for a rocket launch viewing," "exploring the century-old Qilou Old Street," "savoring Hainan's exclusive 'Dad's Tea,'" "private lessons from intangible cultural heritage inheritors," and "an immersive experience of tropical fruits."

Supported by policies, the island has become a popular destination for international tourists.

Additionally, it has launched 70 international air routes connecting with 40 foreign cities.

Official data showed that in 2024, Hainan received 1.1 million inbound visits, a year-on-year increase of over one time, showing its growing attractiveness to global tourists.

In recent years, Hainan has intensified its global promotion efforts through both "going global" and "inviting tourists" initiatives.

This year, it has planned over 10 batches of overseas activities and sent over 20 professional teams for marketing in key source countries to invite foreign travel agencies and media to Hainan.

Local officials said Hainan would establish 29 tourism promotion offices in 18 countries and regions to conduct regular market development activities. (By Zhang Dongfang)
