(ECNS) -- The first wind turbine of the world's highest wind farm in the Himalayas was installed on Saturday, at an altitude of 5,092 meters.

This project, spearheaded by China National Nuclear Power (CNNP) Rich Energy Co. in Xizang Autonomous Region and executed by China Nuclear Industry 22nd Construction Co., is recognized as the world’s highest wind farm with the largest individual capacity, integrating solar, wind and energy storage.

The wind farm has a total installed capacity of 300 megawatts, with 200 megawatts generated from 40 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 5 megawatts. The rotor diameter of turbines reaches 183 meters, while the blade measures 90.1 meters in length.

Under normal operation, each turbine can produce 500 kWh of electricity per hour, which is sufficient to power four families for a year.

The project is expected to generate 600 million kWh of electricity annually, reducing the need for approximately 164,2000 metric tons of coal, 453,4000 metric tons of sulfur dioxide and 450,100 metric tons of carbon dioxide.
