(ECNS) -- More than 300 million domestic trips have been made in China during the Spring Festival, with the tourism revenue reaching 375.84 billion yuan (about $55.5 billion), said China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism on Friday.

According to the data released by the ministry, domestic trips in the country have increased by 23.1 percent year on year, recovering to 88.6 percent of the same period of 2019, when there was no COVID-19 pandemic.

The tourism revenue generated during the week-long holiday has grown by 30 percent year on year, recovering to 73.1 percent of the same period in 2019.

A total of 10,739 A-level tourist attractions, 73.5 percent of the country's total, opened as normal during the holiday, said the ministry.

Incomplete statistics showed that 1,281, or nine percent of the total A-level scenic spots in China, were free of charge during the Spring Festival, of which 62 were 5A-level scenic spots.

Various cultural and tourism activities were also held across China. Data shows that 52.122 million tourists have gathered in 243 national night cultural and tourism consumption areas, with each area seeing 30,600 tourists per night on average.
