China's Shenzhou 14 astronauts to conduct first extravehicular activities Thursday

(ECNS) -- The Shenzhou-14 astronauts will conduct their first extravehicular activities (EVAs) on Thursday, 88 days after entering the Wentian lab module on July 25, according to the China Manned Space Agency(CMSA).

They have successively completed cargo transfer, in-orbit tests of the Wentian lab module platform, unlocking and tests of scientific cabinets, unlocking and in-orbit tests of a small robotic arm, and the management of space station assembly.

Daily routines including in-orbit medical inspection, weightlessness protection exercises, and space science experiments have been carried out.

Training projects like in-orbit emergency evacuation, small robotic arm operations, and medical rescue drills have also been conducted.

At present, the Shenzhou 14 astronauts are in good condition and the space station assembly in progress. Conditions are ideal for extravehicular activities, the CMSA said.
