Former Japanese PM Shinzo Abe collapses after being shot during speech

(ECNS) -- Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe collapsed after being shot in the back while delivering a speech in Nara on Friday, NHK cited an official from the Liberal Democratic Party as reported.

A male suspect was detained at the scene, NHK said.

Kyodo News said the former premier was not conscious and appeared to be in cardiac arrest.
