China's first solar-tidal photovoltaic power plant begins to generate electricty

(ECNS) -- China's first intelligent photovoltaic power plant utilizing solar and tidal power was connected to the power grid on Monday, marking China’s new achievements in utilizing marine energy resources and the development and construction of its new-energy network, according to China Energy Investment Corporation.

Located in Wugen Township of East China’s Wenling City, the power plant has an installed capacity of 100 megawatts, with 24 power-generating units and more than 185,000 high-efficiency monocrystalline silicon bifacial modules.

Its annual power generation output will exceed 100 million kWh, enough to meet the annual electricity demand of about 30,000 urban households. The electricity generating capacity of the power plant can save over 31,000 metric tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by almost 85,000 metric tons annually, compared with conventional coal power plants.

With unmanned aerial vehicle inspection technologies and AI intelligent diagnosis systems, the photovoltaic power plant can conduct remote diagnosis and detect potential equipment problems relying on big data analysis on digital platforms, according to the corporation.

The accuracy rate of problem warning reaches over 85 percent, which effectively guarantees the economic benefits of the power station, it was added.
