(ECNS) -- China's Q&A platform Zhihu released on Monday the top 10 social events and topics that Chinese people have been concerned about most in 2021.

Based on Zhihu’s statistics, they are: the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, free COVID-19 vaccines, Chinese defense heroes at the China-India border, the missions of China's space station, the successful landing of China's Mars rover Zhurong, the passing away of China's "Father of Hybrid Rice" Yuan Longping, torrential flooding in China's Henan Province, the Tokyo Olympics, the political situation in Afghanistan, and Meng Wanzhou returning to China.

A "sense of gain" is one of the standards to judge the content, meaning that the hot events and topics on the list must be able to broaden horizons, offer help and be sympathetic, according to Zhihu.

Users of Zhihu have created lots of “high-quality” content. For example, when asked "How is Henan after the rainfall in its many cities hit an all-time record high, and how to control the flooding?” a Zhihu user nicknamed Zhen Haoyuan posted a self-help manual of more than 6,000 words, covering indoor and outdoor self-help methods, ways to dodge danger, an emergency items list, and the contact information of rescue departments.
