(ECNS) -- Nearly 3,000 films and over 50 TV shows have been dubbed with Tibetan languages in the past 60 years, according to a seminar on Tibetan film dubbing Monday.

The Tibet Autonomous Region began film dubbing in 1957, supported by the Changchun Film Studio, one of the cornerstones of the Chinese film industry.

In November 1965, the first Tibetan film dubbing team was set up and completed the region's first Tibetan film, according to Zhang Jianhua, an official at the Tibet Autonomous Region Film Public Service Center.

The Tibet Autonomous Region Film Public Service Center has dubbed 93 films this year, including 30 science films. It has ordered 64,500 screenings of films for the whole region, including 36,000 screenings in Lhasa Tibetan, 48 in Khams Tibetan, and 28,300 in standard Chinese.

These films have popularized scientific knowledge among farmers and herdsmen and enriched their spiritual lives.

The Film Public Service Center has dubbed 898 films, including 678 feature films and 220 science films, with nearly 360,000 screenings since the launch of the public dubbing project of digital films in Chinese minority languages in 2009, said Wang Yifeng, head of the dubbing center at the State Production Base of China Film Group.

The dubbing project of digital films in Chinese minority languages has helped abolish the language barriers, enrich cultural life of people in minority areas, broaden their horizons and encourage them to pursue technological innovation and prosperity, Wang added.
