ROK Pavilion to boost cultural communication

(ECNS) -- The Republic of Korea Pavilion in Dunhuang, Gansu Province, opened to the public on Saturday as part of the 5th Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo and 10th Dunhuang Tour - Silk Road International Tourism Festival held from Sept. 24 to 26.

The pavilion featured traditional Korean cuisine, performances, games, and instruments, according to Kim Byeong-Gwon, consul-general of the Republic of Korea in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province.

Inside the pavilion, tourists tried Korean food and clothing, and discussed plans to visit the Republic of Korea after the pandemic.

“Korean culture is similar to Chinese culture,” said Zhang Jingang, vice governor of Gansu Province, “I hope cultural communication and tourism cooperation between the ROK and Gansu Province could be enhanced.”

“The 21st century Silk Road could promote communication between different cultures. So I hope Dunhuang, as the hub of cultural exchange, could connect the world in virtue of the 5th Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo,” explained Hwang Hee, minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea.
