62-year-old COVID-19 patient leaves hospital after 111-day ECMO

(ECNS)--A 62-year-old COVID-19 patient once on 111 days’ ECMO was discharged from hospital in Guangzhou on Thursday.

The former infectee underwent the longest ECMO treatment among recovered COVID-19 patients once critically ill.

Surnamed Liu, the patient was admitted in late January and hooked up to an ECMO machine when his condition deteriorated on February 9.

After 111 days of multiple treatments, he was taken off ECMO on May 29.
