(ECNS) -- China's first robotic Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) operation in Beijing proved a success thanks to the locally made, state-of-the-art HURWA knee surgery robot.

The robot joined the team of surgeons Lin Jin and Wang Wei at Peking Union Medical College Hospital.

Over 70,000 robotic surgeries had been performed in China by 2017.
