Fujian launches first direct passenger route to UK

(ECNS) -- Fujian Province's first direct passenger air route to the United Kingdom opened Sunday in Xiamen, operated by a Boeing 787-9 wide-body aircraft.

Flights MF821/822 will run three times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The outbound service departs Xiamen at 12:50 a.m. Beijing Time and arrives in London at 6:35 a.m. local time. The return flight leaves London at 12:35 p.m. and lands in Xiamen at 7 a.m. the following day.

Previously, passengers traveling between Xiamen and London had to make stopovers in Amsterdam, Paris, Hong Kong or other locations, with the entire journey taking more than 20 hours.

The new route shortens travel time and marks a milestone in Fujian's international connectivity.
