China's railways transport 76.1 mln metric tons of cargo in Aug. 24-30

(ECNS) -- China's national railway network transported 76.103 million metric tons of cargo from Aug. 24 to 30, down 4.72% week on week, according to data released Monday by the Ministry of Transport.

Highway freight traffic totaled 54.955 million truck trips nationwide, down 2.14% week on week.

Ports monitored nationwide handled 252.92 million metric tons of cargo during the period, down 8.07% week on week, while container throughput fell 9.81% to 6.322 million TEUs.

Civil aviation recorded 135,000 flights, down 4.64% week on week, including 4,961 cargo flights.

The courier sector collected about 4 billion parcels during the week, up 5.54% week on week, while about 3.922 billion parcels were delivered, up 4.11%.
