(ECNS) -- China’s BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) has achieved about 90% penetration across key industries, with nearly 40 million active terminal devices, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said.

BDS has become a standard configuration in consumer products like smartphones, wearables, and in-car terminals. In the first half of 2026, over 98% of the 133 million smartphones shipped in the domestic market supported BDS positioning, and BDS short-message service users exceeded 55 million.

Applications are expanding in transportation, public safety and smart agriculture. By June, several cities had achieved full adoption in areas including shared bikes, taxis, official vehicles and agricultural machinery.
