(ECNS) -- The number of confirmed novel coronavirus cases across the world surpassed 1.84 million by Sunday, with fatalities exceeding 110,000, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

The U.S. recorded 1,514 deaths in past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases and deaths to 550,000 and 21,000, respectively.

As of Sunday, Britain had reported 10,612 deaths from the virus, becoming the fifth country in the world to suffer more than 10,000 deaths. 

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been discharged from hospital in London after treatment for the novel coronavirus, but will not return to work straight away. 

The Chinese mainland reported 108 new confirmed cases, of which 98 were from abroad, the National Health Commission said on Monday. The 10 new domestically transmitted cases included seven in Heilongjiang Province and three in Guangdong Province. 

By April 12, there have been 82,160 cumulative infections, 77,663 recoveries, 3,341 deaths and 1,156 remaining infections in the Chinese mainland. Another 1,004 cumulative cases in Hong Kong, 45 in Macao and 388 in Taiwan have been reported.
