(ECNS) -- A two-storied villa has been built in just three hours in Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi province, thanks to three-dimensional (3D) printing technology, Jiangnan Times reported on Monday.

An Yongliang, a research and development engineer at Zhuoda Real Estate Group Co, a Chinese property developer, says the villa is made up of six modules, with 90 percent of construction work was completed at a plant off-site.

Workers assembled the living room, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom modules, as well as others, with the help of a crane, the paper said.

Each independent module weighs about 100 kilograms, and the cost of the villa is between 2,500 yuan ($402) and 3,500 yuan per square meter, An says, adding that it usually takes less than twenty days to make the modules and set up such a house using 3D printing technology.

Although built in such a short period of time, the villa is capable of resisting a magnitude-nine earthquake, it was added.
