The total number of China-Europe freight train trips operated by eastern China's Jiangsu province soared up 21.7 percent on a yearly basis to 1,380 in the first nine and half months of this year, greatly bolstering the province's export volume and its business environment for foreign companies.

In the meantime, the local government and railway operator had assisted both domestic and global companies, including South Korea's LG Group and Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group, to ship products manufactured in Jiangsu to destinations in Europe and Central Asia via the cargo train services, according to Jiangsu Provincial Department of transport.

As this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and the Netherlands, the Jiangsu Exports Exhibition and Trade Centre was unveiled at a business event in Tilburg, the Netherlands in June.

Based on the Nanjing-Tilburg freight train service, this move will help Jiangsu build its first comprehensive platform in the European country, integrating exhibition, e-commerce, storage, logistics and distribution functions. It will meet the needs of export-oriented companies in Jiangsu and the Yangtze River Delta region, according to information released by Jiangsu Provincial Department of Commerce.

The Nanjing-Tilburg freight train service, the second trade route of its kind between China and the European country, had recorded 24 trips in both directions since its opening in May 2021, delivering goods in 1,990 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU), and with a total market value of $126 million, by the end of June, 2022.
