(ECNS) -- With diversified and professional services, Hong Kong can help mainland companies effectively explore overseas markets, said Vincent Tang, associate Director-general of investment promotion at InvestHK.

Tang made the remarks at a 2019 China International Fair for Trade and Investment (CIFIT) symposium on Saturday.

Hong Kong has advantages in many aspects including its business environment and financing sector as well as unique strengths in taxation, talent and legal services, said Tang.

Hong Kong and mainland cities have joined hands in recent years to develop the Greater Bay Area with breakthroughs made in regional coordination, institutional innovation and technology transfers.

It’s hoped that companies could pour their research and development efforts into Hong Kong, then commercialize them in mainland cities so each can bring their advantages into full play, said Tang.

He stressed that a top priority is stopping the violence and restoring peace in Hong Kong now as InvestHK redoubles its efforts to make the metropolis, known as ‘Pearl of the Orient’, more bright.

"A typhoon comes and goes. We need to stay calm and get the job done," he said.

Tang was in Xiamen to attend the 2019 China International Fair for Investment & Trade that attracted 1,500 enterprise exhibitors from more than 40 countries and regions.
