"轮作"（crop rotation）指在同一田块上有顺序地在季节间和年度间轮换种植不同作物的种植方式.比如,在同一田块上,一年种大豆,一年种小麦,一年种玉米,接下来每年按照上述顺序轮换种植.在南方一年多熟的条件下,一年内还可以按照季节进行轮换种植.
"休耕"（fallow）指对肥力不足、地力较差的耕地,一定时期内不种农作物,但仍进行管理和维护,以恢复地力.
