联合国宣布2016年为"国际豆类年"

International Year of Pulses (IYP)

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) on Tuesday launched the International Year of Pulses (IYP) in a bid to heighten public awareness of the nutritional benefits of pulse crops, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters here Tuesday.

11月10日,联合国发言人斯蒂芬•杜加里克对媒体表示,联合国粮食与农业组织(FAO)为了提高公众对豆科作物营养的认识,推出了"国际豆类年".

联合国将2016年定为"国际豆类年"(International Year of Pulses,IYP),以"提供丰富营养,促进可持续发展"为口号."豆类"(pulses)在世界粮食计划署 (World Food Programme)粮食援助战略中的"食品篮 "(food basket)中占有一席之地.

Pulse这个词,可能不少人看到的第一反应是"脉搏"的意思,在这里指的是豆科植物(leguminous plants)所产果实的总称.

豆类作物,如扁豆、蚕豆、豌豆、鹰嘴豆(lentils, beans, peas and chickpeas)富含蛋白质、纤维、各种维生素和氨基酸,并且是一种高产的(high yeilding)作物.豆类可以帮助提高人类健康和幸福水平,还能带来更大的社会效益(social benefits).豆类还经常用于体重控制和减重项目.

联合国秘书长潘基文表示,豆类在解决饥饿、食品安全、营养不良等方面(address hunger, food security, malnutrition)有很大的作用.同时,设立国际豆类年对实现联合国可持续发展目标(Sustainable Development Goals,SDG)有很大的作用.
