Eighty people competed in the Second International Space-out Competition held in one of the most vibrant shopping streets in Beijing - The Place - near China World Trade Center.
第二届国际发呆大赛在北京世贸天阶举行,共有80名参赛者.世贸天阶在中国国际贸易中心附近,是北京最热闹的购物街之一.
"国际发呆大赛"(International Space-out Competition)由一位韩国艺术家发起,首届大赛于2014年在韩国首尔举行,参赛者需要放空自己(clear their mind),不去想生活压力(forget about life's stresses).本届大赛,参赛者需要静坐2小时(sit still for 2 hours),不受周围环境的干扰(oblivious to the distractions of their surroundings),不少选手希望借此机会挑战一下自己的耐力(test their composure ).按照规则,比赛的成绩分为两部分,稳定的心率(a steady heart rate)与观众的投票各占一半.
此次发呆大赛举办方负责人表示,发呆(staring into space)曾经是我们再平常不过的一种行为,但人们的日常生活节奏很快(everyday rhythm of people's lives is fast),它就变成了一件奢侈品.对于忙碌的都市人(busy urbanites)来说,这样的比赛不失为放松自己的契机.不过也有人批评称,这样的比赛完全没有意义,简直是浪费时间(a waste of time).
