Angela Cheorghiu, one of the best and most sought opera singers and a superstar soprano on stage, will be presenting a vocal recital on October 30 at Shanghai Oriental Art Center.

Born 1965 in Romania, Gheorghiu made her debut in 1990 and international debut in 1992, and since then has performed in most of the renowned opera houses around the world.

She first performed her acclaimed role from "La Traviata" in 1994 at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, which was also recorded by DECCA.

Her many recordings have won her numerous awards, including Gramophone Award for her role in Massenet's "Manon" in 2001, which also won her a Grammy Awards nomination in 2002.

Gheorghiu's concert in Shanghai will feature a wide selection of classical opera pieces including Debussy's "Nuit d'étoiles," Bizet's "Chant d'amour," Jean-Philippe Rameau's "Le grillon" as well as several pieces by Rachmaninoff and Tiberiu Brediceanu.

The concert will also feature pianist Alexandru Petrovici, who is also from Romania and has been teaching at the University of Music in Bucharest since 1998.
