A mouth-watering culinary expo has been held at the Beijing Exhibition Center. Some healthy competition was apparent between chefs from China and South Korea.

The hall of the exhibition center sizzles from the early morning, with visitors swarming around the booths, intrigued as to what delicacies are being concocted.

These pancakes look especially inviting. "This type of sweet pancake originally came to South Korea from China. Over the years, we've reformed them to adapt to our tastes. These pancakes are liked by both young and old in our country," the South Korean chef said.

The South Korean chefs are making their world-famous pickled cabbage dish - Kimchee, provoking a buying frenzy among visitors. Each bag is sold for ten yuan, and it is very popular indeed.

Chinese chefs were not overshadowed however. Their creations are akin to works of art, elaborate and beautiful artifacts that are of course edible.

"The price of these creations is very high, because the art is so good," a chef said.

And the feast of Chinese dishes are not complete without a bubbling stew. One is made with prepared, vacuum packed abalones.

A large vegetable cutting machine is one of the newest kitchen facilities being promoted at the expo, adding to the notion that this is a must-see for all gourmet lovers.
