Early Music Season @ Forbidden City Concert Hall

The Forbidden City Concert Hall kicked off its Early Music Season on Saturday, with concerts by Jordi Savall and Hesperion XXI, Le Poeme Harmonique and Le Concert Spirituel poised to come to town. The performances will feature early European music, such as Lamento della Ninfa by Monteverdi and La Barchetta Passaggiera by Manelli. In order to boost audience attendance at the Early Music Season, organizers have a special package for music lovers priced at 200 yuan for all the three concerts. Saturday night will be the first concert by Spanish violist virtuoso Jordi Savall, with accompaniment from Hesperion XXI. They will perform music by Bach, Arrauxo and Murcia.

Luz Casal @ Poly Theater

As part of the Meet in Beijing Performance Season, Spanish pop diva Luz Casal will perform a recital at the Poly Theater on Sunday, May 6, to mark her maiden China tour. During her singing career spanning over 30 years, Casal has won almost every pop music award in Spain. This time, she will perform many of her classics including "Alma Mia" ("My Soul"), "Historia De Un Amor" ("A Love Story"), "Entre Mis Recuerdos" ("Among My Souvenirs") and "Gracias A La Vida" ("Thanks to Life").

La Boheme @ NCPA

The South Korean National Opera House will stage its interpretation of Puccini's La Boheme at the National Center for the Performing Arts on May 11, as part of the venue's ongoing Opera Festival.
