(ECNS) -- To commemorate the fifth anniversary of the implementation of its national security law, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government launched a special exhibition at the local museum of history.
The exhibition, which opened on Thursday, highlights how the HKSAR government, with backing from central authorities, has progressively established a framework to uphold national security.
At the opening ceremony, Hong Kong's Secretary for Justice, Paul Lam Ting-kwok emphasized that in safeguarding national security, we must not forget history, ignore reality, or stand idly by. He said that national security is closely linked to the well-being of every Hong Kong resident, and that everyone should bear the responsibility to safeguard it.
From the enactment of the law to June 1, 2025, a total of 326 individuals have been arrested in connection with national security-related offenses under the law, with 165 already convicted. The HKSAR government will continue to fully leverage the law and remain steadfast in its duty to safeguard national security.
