(ECNS) – The world's first 150,000-metric-ton deep-sea aquaculture vessel, the "Lu Ji Yu Yang 50517", was delivered for operation in Qingdao, east China's Qingdao Province on Thursday.
The vessel is 244.9 meters long, 45 meters wide, with a total water holding capacity of nearly 100,000 cubic meters.
It has a designed draft of 15 meters and can accommodates 15 standard breeding cabins, 4 circular tanks, and 22 experimental farming tanks for breeding high-end commercial fish, including large yellow croaker and salmon.
It is expected to have an annual output of approximately 3,600 metric tons of high-quality fish.
It has achieved over 160 technological breakthroughs and innovations. The integration of digital and intelligent technologies has significantly enhanced the fish breeding process. With an overall rate of 90 percent, it boasts fully mechanized fish breeding process.
The new aquaculture vessel is an updated version of its 100,000-ton predecessor delivered on May 20, 2022 and scheduled to be put into use in October 2025.
