Malaysian durians deliver fresh flavors to Chinese consumers

Malaysia is famous for its rich diversity of durian varieties. The fruit is distinctive for its large size, strong aroma and spiky rind. In 2023, Malaysia's total exports of frozen durians to China reached 1.92 billion yuan, seven times the amount in 2018.

Malaysia started exporting fresh durians to China in August, 2024. Musang King, with its buttery thick flesh and rich, bittersweet flavor, is popular with Chinese consumers.
