(ECNS) -- Diplomats from more than10countries, including the Maldives, Zambia, Malawi, Cape Verde, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka, visited Yulin, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, from Feb. 10 to 13 to experience Chinese culture and promote friendly exchanges with China.

During the even, a different side of Yunlin, skillfully blending tradition with modernity, was showcased to the diplomats. From the city’s Ceramic Town and Rongzhou Ancient City to the Yulin Fuda International Spice Trading Center, diplomats experienced the charm of traditional Chinese culture including dragon and lion dances, Taiji performances, paper-cutting, calligraphy, as well as learning about the dynamics of modern industries such as engine manufacturing.

Several diplomats expressed their admiration for Yulin's development and expectations for future cooperation.

Ambassador of Cabo Verde to China, Arlindo do Rosário, and the Maldives’ ambassador to China Fazeel Najeeb expressed their gratitude for the warm and thoughtful reception they received in Yulin in speeches during a Yulin promotion conference. They said the trip allowed them to experience Yulin's rich cultural history and admire its beautiful natural scenery.

They look forward to deepening cooperation between their countries and Yulin in relevant fields, strengthening friendly exchanges, and sharing new opportunities for high-quality development in Yulin, they said.

Zhang Huqiang, mayor of Yulin, said the city is glad to strengthen cooperation with these countries during the promotion conference.

Yunlin is not only a city with a thousand-year-old history but also a vibrant hub, Zhang said. He hoped that this event would serve as an opportunity to deepen cooperation with countries in  areas of economy, trade, industry, and culture.

Xu Jiahao, secretary-general of the Secretariat of “China and the World – Chinese Culture Tour for Diplomats in China,” said the organization has been committed to promoting cultural exchange and cooperation between China and the world in his speech.

He pointed out that the mission of the organization is to enhance global mutual understanding and trust through cultural exchange.

“This trip to Yulin is a manifestation of our commitment to this mission. We look forward to using this event as an opportunity to connect Yulin with countries around the world for enhanced exchanges and cooperation,” he said.

Yulin, famous for its spice production, is the epicenter of China's spice trade, managing a staggering 80 percent of domestic spice commerce and nearly two-thirds of the global total. Yulin's geographical location, coupled with its dynamic industry, has positioned it as a key player in the domestic and international spice markets.

The city is also a popular tourist destination.
