(ECNS) -- A Malaysian businessman signed an agreement of 500 metric tons of oranges with Wanzhou citrus growers at the 7th Three Gorges Citrus Production and Marketing Matchmaking in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality on last Saturday.
On the same day, the first batch of 28 metric tons of Wanzhou oranges have been loaded and shipped.

The businessman, Huang Tianfu in Chinese, said that he purchased 28 metric tons of Wanzhou oranges last year and sold well in Malaysia, so he purchase 500 metric tons this year. He plans to purchase 1,000 metric tons in total.
This batch of oranges will first be transported by land to Shekou Port in Shenzhen City, then shipped by sea to Malaysia, with the entire journey taking about 10 days, according to Chen Guanghui, head of the planting company in Wanzhou.
Chen said that in the near future, buyers from countries such as the Philippines and Vietnam will also come to Wanzhou to purchase citrus products.
An official from the Wanzhou District government said that the citrus planting area in Wanzhou currently covers 67,543 acres, with an annual output of 540,000 metric tons and an annual production value exceeding 5 billion RMB ($689 million).
