You should expect China to come up with many great things: Elon Musk on DeepSeek

(ECNS) -- There are a lot of very smart, motivated engineers in China, so you should expect that China will come up with many great things, said Elon Musk when talking about DeepSeek in a video released Sunday.

Musk pointed out that if one looks at the long history of China, also an ancient nation that has invented and developed many things and for most of human history, China has been the most powerful nation on Earth.

From the perspective of the Chinese people in China, they simply view China's ascendancy as resuming their normal place in history, he noted.

“So you can expect that they will do many great things and DeepSeek is one of them,” he said, adding that it is very impressive.

But he also believed that DeepSeek is not a complete revolution in AI. He said xAI, which is led by himself, and others will soon release models that are better than Deepseek.

At the beginning of January, 2025, Musk announced on X that xAI’s Grok-3 model had finished pre-training and confirmed that the model would be launched in the next 3-4 weeks.
