(ECNS) -- China’s forest coverage has exceeded over 25 percent by 2023, with a total volume of forest stock over 20 billion cubic meters, which has made China the country see most greenery growth in the world, according to the 2024 World Forestry Industry Conference held in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, on Saturday.
By the end of 2023, China’s annual carbon sink has reached more than 1.2 billion metric tons, while its planted forests ranked first in the world.
The total output value of the Chinese forestry industry exceeded 9 trillion yuan ($1.24 trillion ) last year, with four industries -- wood and bamboo processing, forest food, forest economy and eco-tourism -- each contributing more than one trillion yuan making China a leading country in forestry production, trade and consumption, said the conference.
The two-day conference focused on innovation as a driver of high-quality development in the forestry industry. It has attracted over 1,000 enterprises around the world, including Germany, Canada, Russia, and countries to participate.
