(ECNS)--The United States, with its tattered version of "American-style democracy," hosted the second so-called "Summit for Democracy" this week. However, the country is plagued by chronic issues such as money in politics, racial discrimination, gun and police violence, and wealth polarization. Human rights legislation and justice have suffered an extreme regression, further undermining the basic rights and freedoms of the American people.
The corruption within "American-style democracy" runs deep, yet the United States continues to promote it forcefully abroad. Unfortunately, wherever this model is exported, it often leads to turmoil, conflict, and war, resulting in immense humanitarian disasters and lasting harm. Today, what the world needs is genuine democracy based on mutual respect, openness, inclusiveness, cooperation, and mutual benefit. The summit, in reality, is merely a political farce and a tool for geopolitical coercion.
