(ECNS) -- Starting on Oct. 15, the Civil Aviation Administration of China will cancel the issuance and use of passes that allow holders to directly board airplanes to perform public duties, Beijing Daily reported.
The pass, currently issued to air traffic controllers, flight dispatchers and pilots, among others, was designed to facilitate staff members' execution of tasks to ensure flight safety.
However, lax management resulted in some people taking advantage of the pass for personal benefit, prompting the watchdog to better regulate the sector, the report said.
