(ECNS) -- A survey finds that part-time summer jobs for students have shifted from conventional temporary jobs to those related to the development of the booming Internet sector, such as live-streaming or helping players advance their characters in computer games, Beijing Evening News reported.

The survey among university students by feidee.com, a forum for personal finance management, found Internet-based jobs have become popular choices.

Male students were more interested in helping game players advance, such as completing quests or overcoming obstacles in the virtual world. They also like to work as app testers and fitness assistants.

Guo, a student majoring in chemical engineering, said he earned about 5,000 yuan ($740) a month playing and helping computer gamers level up their characters.

The top three choices for female students were in customer-service work, live-streaming and private tutoring.

The survey also showed that 61.7 percent of students chose part-time jobs due to individual interests or pay levels, rather than for their relevance to university majors.
