(ECNS) - China's consulate general in the German city of Dusseldorf has urged Chinese citizens there to take extra care following an axe attack at the city's main train station.

At least five people were seriously injured after what witnesses described as a "crazed man" attacked people with an axe while running through the busy station. A suspect was arrested at the scene, while police said others could be on the run.

The consulate general said it contacted local police and was told that no Chinese were injured in the incident.

The consulate general urged local Chinese to call German police on 110 or seek help from the 24-hour hotline of the Foreign Ministry at +86 10 12308, if needed.
