(ECNS) -- A survey by China Youth Daily found that 85.7 percent of respondents have suffered loss of emotional control, with 50.6 percent turning to music to calming down.

In the survey of 1,999 respondents, 62 percent said they lost their temper in a mental breakdown, 48.2 percent were in low spirits and 30.9 percent chose to break things.

Over 71 percent thought moodiness harms them in such ways as causing less resistance to diseases or in learning deficiencies.

For reasons of becoming emotional, 52.5 percent attributed it to problems beyond their control, 45.1 percent said it was an interruption in life's routines and 38.2 percent blamed poor communication skills.

Participants in the survey chose different ways to clear their minds. Over half liked to listen to music, followed by engaging in something else for a shift in sentiment (37.5 percent), sports (35.4 percent) and time with family or friends (30.2 percent).

Yang Juan, a teacher in a public school, said she felt increasingly unable to control her temper when students in her class were half-hearted about studying.

Yang said she watched South Korean soap operas or entertainment programs and swims once a week to relax.
