(ECNS) -- The boom of China's Internet and related industries makes them among the most-sought-after for jobseekers, while payment for employees in these sectors varies from city to city, according to Changchun Evening News.
Statistics provided by Zhaopin.com suggests that the average salary for an employee at an Internet company has been 9,495 yuan ($1,394) during the latter half of this year, higher than in many other industries.
Among the 34 major Chinese cities, Beijing offers the highest pay of 13,737 yuan, followed by Shanghai with 11,596 yuan. Shenzhen, where internet giant Tencent is based, came third with 10,188 yuan.
Cities in the Yangtze River and Pearl River deltas, including Hanghzou, Ningbo, Xiamen, Dongguan and Fuzhou, are also among the top 10.
In comparison, cities in northeast and central China like Shenyang, Changchun, Harbin, Zhengzhou and Taiyuan, can only offer about 7,000 yuan for an Internet job.
Analysts with Zhoupin.com say bigger cities have higher demand for Internet talents and use high payments to lure them, while northeastern and central cities having to further upgrade their industrial structure to nurture Internet businesses.
Statistics also show that small companies offer higher payments to jobseekers compared to large and medium-sized enterprises.
Analysts say this reflects the thrive of start-ups. As most are little heard of, employers may resort to high payments to attract those they desperately need.
