(ECNS) -- A 10-year-old boy attempted to commit suicide due to stress caused by too much homework during his summer vacation, Yangtze Evening News reported.
On a street in Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province the teenager fiercely quarreled with his mother, who then beat him because he refused to go back home and study.
When a police officer tried to intervene, the boy shouted that he wanted to disown his mother, rushed to the center of the road and tried to collide with cars. After he was brought back, the emotional boy made the same attempt several more times.
The officer took the mother and son to a police station, where the boy said his mother was too strict with him.
He said all his time was spent on homework or taking tutoring classes, leaving no free time at all.
The boy also said his mother embarrassed him by beating him in the street.
With the coordination of the police officer, the mother pledged to be mindful of her manners and give more free time to her son.
