(ECNS) -- A police officer saved and sent three barefoot toddlers back home after they were found wandering around a backstreet in the eastern Chinese city of Jiande, local media reported.
The police officer surnamed Chen happened to spot the three children while having breakfast at about 6 a.m. along a street in Jiande, Zhejiang Province.
The eldest girl wore nothing and the other two smaller children had on only diapers. They were having lollipops given to them by a shop owner who found them very cute, said the report.
Seeing no adults accompanying them, Chen took the three toddlers to a police station and worked with nine police officers to contact their parents before the mother showed up.
She said the eldest sister is only 2 years old and her twin brother and sister are about a year.
The father forgot to lock the door when going to work so the infants left home on their own while she was still sleeping, the woman said.
Both the father and mother are natives of Southwest China's Yunnan Province and have worked in Jiande for many years.
It also turned out that the three toddlers finished a long journey in their hour-long absence from home, including a narrow lane, stairs and a platform.
