(ECNS) -- Police arrived on time to rescue a young man who wanted to commit suicide by letting a cobra bite him in Taicang City, East China's Jiangsu Province, a local newspaper reported.

The 19-year-old man shared a picture via the instant messaging software QQ showing a cobra bite at 2 am on May 31, saying he wanted to end his life.

After calls to his number went unanswered, members of the discussion group on raising reptiles called local police for help.

The man's father told police that his son lived by himself and kept about 20 cobras. He provided his son's address but said he didn't believe he would commit suicide.

Police later found the young man, who kept posting his suicide attempt online while his hand was bleeding.

He was immediately sent to a hospital and recovered by June 2.

Police said the young man had difficulties with his family so he attempted suicide to scare his family members.
