(ECNS) -- Cyberstar Papi Jiang has secured a whopping 22 million yuan ($3.4 million) advertising contract for spots on her Internet video program, making history in China's social media.

A female student pursuing a master's degree in directing at the Central Academy of Drama, Papi Jiang became an Internet celebrity for her original, funny, and sarcastic short videos. She received an investment of 12 million yuan last month from venture capitalists.

A Shanghai-based e-commerce site for cosmetics won the high bid during an auction for advertising to be broadcast at the end of her video program. Advertisements in the online video programming sector usually cost hundreds of thousands of yuan.

The successful bidder said they are willing to pay such a high price due to "the power of her personality."

Her agent Yang Ming, also a student at the Central Academy of Drama, said they will donate the net income from the commercials to their alma mater.

Just days before, China's TV watchdog required the young celebrity to purge her program of foul language or face a shutdown. In response, Papi Jiang promised to "rectify her online videos and transmit positive energy to everyone."
