(ECNS) -- Videos unknowingly downloaded to smartphones via Alipay, an online payment app, have sparked security worries, the Beijing Times reported on Tuesday.

An Alipay user posted a screenshot showing that 12 megabytes of video, most of which were selfies of unknown foreign women, had been discovered in the app's installation folder on an Android smartphone, according to the paper.

Another user said Alipay's folder contained 102 such "weird videos."

Alipay reassured users on Monday that the videos did not pose security risks. The company said the videos were added to the cache of every user's cellphone when they use the app's chat or "life circle" services.
