(ECNS) -- Despite an increase in electronic books and mobile gadgets, Chinese netizens still prefer flipping through the pages of a book.
A recent survey covering 29,744 respondents found that print books still top netizen reading preference lists, followed by digital books on mobile phones, PC and kindle.
As much as 76.7 percent of respondents agree that "content" is the most concerned aspect when selecting a book, the survey said, adding that broadening knowledge and entertainment are the two main motives for reading.
In book recommendations, official WeChat accounts are more influential than "people around" and traditional advertising on newspaper, TV and radio, it was found.
Publishing house websites, online book retailers and Sina Weibo also provide much information about new books.
The survey was co-released by Beijing Normal University, Guangming Daily and Taofen Found.
