(ECNS)- Shanghai Disneyland, set to open in Spring 2016, will feature the world's first pirate-themed Disney land, according to one of its designers.

The land Treasure Cove, which took seven years to design, is themed on the Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise. Guests are invited to join Captain Jack Sparrow and Davy Jones on a thrilling journey.

"Battle for the Sunken Treasure," the major attraction, is set in a Caribbean-style fortress. Boat rides are enriched with cutting-edge innovations in robotics, animation, set design and multimedia.

Visitors are also able to board a pirate ship, paddle on Explorer Canoes, participate in interactive play at the shipwreck-themed Siren's Revenge, or enjoy a barbecue meal at Barbossa's Bounty.

Meanwhile, a new show called "Eye of the Storm: Captain Jack's Stunt Spectacular" will debut at El Teatro Fandango, a theater that can hold 1,200 people.

Mo Jiayuan, one of the designers, said the pirate-themed ride has become a famous attraction at Disneyland worldwide. To pay tribute to the Disney spirit, designers have sampled waters at Disney pirate attractions in the U.S., France and Japan and put it in the pond at Treasure Cove.

Last week, Shanghai Disneyland announced that a Mickey Avenue will replace the classic Main Street U.S.A. section to greet visitors.
